TradeVille is the best-known Romanian broker, particularly for investors who want direct access to the Bucharest Stock Exchange. Its offering is structurally different from the international platforms because its strength is the local market.
Where it wins
- Direct BVB access, including instruments the international brokers do not carry
- Romanian tax withheld at source (3%/6% depending on holding period)
- ASF-regulated, covered by the Romanian investor compensation fund (FCI)
- Romanian-language support and documentation
If you want to hold Romanian shares β Hidroelectrica, Romgaz, BRD, Fondul Proprietatea β this is the natural route.
The cost
TradeVille's pricing is a long way from zero-commission. For BVB shares and ETFs, commission starts at 0.27% + β¬0.30 per order (July 2026 pricing). European and Canadian markets start from 0.27% with a market-specific minimum. For US stocks and ETFs, TradeVille charges a per-share commission with a minimum that is the lower of β¬2.70 or 3% of transaction value.
On a β¬500 monthly BVB purchase, 0.27% + β¬0.30 is about β¬1.65 a month, or β¬19.80 a year β noticeably more than XTB's zero and IBKR's β¬15, though not the largest number in your total cost.
Fractional shares: read the fine print
TradeVille supports fractional instruments for selected securities through its foreign intermediary arrangement. But fractional positions have a transfer limitation that most comparisons omit:
Fractional holdings cannot be transferred to another broker and can only be sold through TradeVille. To transfer the account or specific share positions to another broker, the client must sell the fractional positions first.
If there is any chance you will move brokers later, that is worth knowing before you accumulate fractional positions.
Tax
For qualifying transactions through the Romanian intermediary structure, the 2026 capital-gains rates are 3% / 6% depending on holding period, withheld at source. This is the same advantage XTB has, and it is why TradeVille's higher commission does not automatically make it the more expensive choice for a long-term holder.
The referral offer
TradeVille advertises a referral campaign worth up to 1,000 RON in trading-fee reductions, and its help centre describes referral vouchers of 50 RON and $10 for qualifying referrals during promotional periods.
The distinction matters: this is a reduction in trading commissions, not cash you can withdraw. A fee voucher and a cash bonus of the same headline size are not equivalent benefits, and this site does not present them as if they were.
Who it suits
Investors focused on the Bucharest Stock Exchange who value tax withheld at source and local support, and who trade infrequently enough that the per-order commission stays a small share of the total.
