What to watch
For a regulated utility like NiSource, investors typically monitor regulatory decisions, rate case outcomes, and capital expenditure plans, which can affect both earnings and dividends. Weather patterns influence natural gas and electricity demand, while the company's generation mix and infrastructure investments shape long-term cost structures. Broader interest rate movements also matter, as utilities often carry significant debt; comparing NiSource to peers such as Constellation Energy (CEG), Sempra (SRE), Eversource Energy (ES), and WEC Energy Group (WEC) can provide context on valuation and yield.
